Chapatti

 

Ingredients:                                                                                         Makes 15

 

300g chapatti flour                                          250ml warm water

2 tbsp (30ml) oil                                              Ghee for spreading (optional)

 

 

Method:

 

Put the chapatti flour in a mixing bowl and make a small hole in the centre of the flour to pour the oil and mix the flour well. Add water and make into medium soft dough. Divide the dough into 15 portions. Make a ball from each portion, coat in chapatti flour and roll out to form a thin round chapatti. Bake the chapatti on both sides in a flat hot frying pan (chapatti pan / tavdi).

Alternatively, to fluff up the chapattis, bake lightly on both sides and then briefly place on a wire mesh over full heat. When ready, spread ghee over the chapatti if desired and serve.
